Maine Irish Heritage Center offers “Let’s Talk About It” Book Group

The Maine Irish Heritage Center Library has been selected by the Maine Humanities Council to offer “Let’s Talk About It”, a free reading and discussion group with copies of books available through the library. This program is provided by the Maine Humanities Council’s Maine Center for the Book in cooperation with the Maine State Library.

The series “Liberating Imaginations Readings in Modern Irish Fiction”, begins Wednesday May 18 at the MIHC Library in Portland and continues for 5 sessions, through September 14th.

Books to be read and discussed in this series include: “The Country Girls by Edna O’Brien, “A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man” by James Joyce, “The Collected Stories” by John McGahern, “Antarctica” by Claire Keegan and “A Star Called Henry” by Roddy Doyle. A scholar provided by the Maine Humanities Council will facilitate the discussions.
